Jerrys Deere Barn went on line March 20th, 2009. The idea to start this website & the planing that went into it actually took place sometime in 2007. During the two year period that preceded our launch onto the internet, I had many conversations & suggestions on what role Jerrys Deere Barn should be on the world wide web.
Back then, in 2007 there were three main objectives that were set for Jerrys Deere Barn. First & above all was to establish a forum where individuals could freely exchange experiences & ideas about John Deere vintage & antique tractors & implements. The second objective was to establish a place where John Deere enthusiasts could sell there no longer wanted items or look for the items they needed to restore or complete a project.
We also wanted this to be a place where the buying & selling was free of the usual clutter that goes along with such classified ads. And we also wanted it to be a place where the seller would get to keep the proceeds from the sale so that the seller would have the incentive to keep his or her's asking prices reasonable for the buyer unlike auction sites that drive up prices by virtue of all their ridiculous fees imposed on sellers & sometimes the buyer as well. And we accomplished this objective as well.
Our third main objective was to establish a photo album where our members could post there photos so that we could all share in them. And we accomplished that as well. We also established a Library where our members could select & read articles of interest. We also designed the library so that our members could submit there own John Deere stories, experiences & information where it could be read & seen by others.
The whole idea & intent behind Jerrys Deere Barn was to create a friendly meeting place for the sole purpose of keeping alive these classic John Deere tractors & implements. Maybe I'm just fascinated with how we & the world have been blessed with great thinkers & achievers like John Deere, Henry Ford, Thomas Edison, Charles Goodyear, Alexander Bell & countless others. Maybe this is my way of saying thanks to these great men & countless others who have had such a positive impact on our lives & on the world. And lets not forget Bill Gates & Steve Jobs as well. Because without them there would be no Jerrys Deere Barn on the world wide web.
